New Seat Ibiza revealed

Date: 07 April 2008

Seat has finally brought the styling of its Ibiza into line with the rest of the range.

Visually, the supermini is almost identical to the Bocanegra concept unveiled at the Geneva motor show last month.

Initially, Seat will launch the Ibiza with the option of three petrol engines - 70PS 1.2, 85PS 1.4, 102PS 1.6-litre - with a series of turbo diesel engines following soon.

All three petrol engines will emit less than 160g/km CO2, but there is no indication yet as to whether any of the forthcoming diesels will beat the 120g/km barrier.

A new seven-speed automatic gearbox, cornering headlights and hill-hold assist are all also expected to be available.

Further details are expected over the next few months, prior to the cars' launch.
