Nissan picks Pixo for Paris display

Date: 16 September 2008

Nissan is giving its new city car, the Pixo, its world debut at the motor chow in Paris at the beginning of October.

The Pixo is a five-door, four-seater city car that will be powered by a three-cylinder 1.0-litre engine.

The option of a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic gearbox is also offered.

UK sales are expected to start in spring 2009.

A brand new electric city car concept, called Nuvu, and the facelifted version of the Note will also be taking their global bow at the French show.

The Nuvu is on display to showcase the technology that will appear in Nissan's electric car, which will be on sale from 2010.

The technology includes a series of leaf-shaped solar panels that are linked to the battery.

At just three meters long, it's designed as a city car with a 2+1 seating system.

The Note refresh brings a redesigned front end, new alloy wheels and a new pale green body colour.

A new satnav system called Nissan Connect will also be on the stand and will be introduced to the Note from January next year. It will then be extended to the other small Nissan models throughout 2009.
