Nissan reveals new Z-car

Date: 04 November 2008

Nissan is taking an evolutionary approach to the new 370Z sports car, which will succeed the six-year-old 350Z next Spring and involve a "moderate price rise adjustment" that should push the predominant GT pack variant above the £30,000 mark.

With its shorter wheelbase and squatter stance the latest Nissan Z car will use a 3.7-litre V6 engine shared with corporate partner Infiniti's G37, tuned to produce between 320 and 330PS. The 350Z's familiar bonnet power bulge has gone and the new car has a more aerodynamically efficient moulded profile.

Annual UK sales of the 350Z, which peaked at around 2000 in 2004, have halved but Nissan is hopeful that the new 370Z will benefit from a halo-effect with the arrival of the £58,000 GTR supercar in April.
