The start point for the best source of fleet information

Northumbria police adds Astra

Date: 26 September 2008

Northumbria police force has added 56 Vauxhall Astras to its fleet.

The force has chosen 48 1.3-litre diesel hatchbacks and eight 1.7-litre diesel estates, and will run the cars for four years.

GM UK Special Vehicles, based at Millbrook in Bedfordshire, has converted the cars for police use, adding police livery, siren, lights, wiring and aerial for the radio, and a data recorder, plus a new type of protective glass that only Northumbria's police uses.

As they are treated as original equipment all the additions are covered by Vauxhall's extended warranty.
