Peugeot confirms Trafficmaster satnav deal

Peugeot satnav

Peugeot's new 308 SR and 407 SR models will benefit from Trafficmaster's Smartnav satellite navigation system following a deal between the two companies.

The announcement follows Peugeot's earlier declaration that it would take on the aftermarket satnav industry by charging an expected £600 for built-in units on some fleet-targeted models - typically half the price of satnav in rivals.

Steve Fahey, product and pricing manager at Peugeot, said: "The addition of Smartnav to the 308 SR and 407 SR models makes it a true business offering for drivers that want technology to keep them on the move and help them save time and money."

Trafficmaster's chief executive, Tony Eales, said: "Peugeot customers will be able to experience the latest navigation technology that avoids traffic jams, uses the most appropriate roads and helps to cut business costs and improve productivity."

The two models will cost around £600 more than the S versions they're based on, but add satnav and Bluetooth as standard.

The Peugeot 308 SR is available from the end of July, while the whole 407 range will be facelifted in August.
