Proton has added the Gen-2 Persona to its range.
The four-door saloon is based on the same platform as the five-door version of the Gen-2 and is powered by a 112PS 1.6-litre engine that reaches a top speed of 118mph.
Proton claims the ride, handling and engine are all influenced by its subsidiary Lotus and is offering the choice between a five-speed manual and four-speed auto gearbox.
Going on sale at the end of March, residual values will not be helped by Proton already offering a £1000 discount on the £10,795 MT and £11,595 AT specifications.
