Renault reveals Laguna coupe

Date: 27 May 2008

Renault has taken the wraps off the coupe version of the new Laguna at the Monaco F1 Grand Prix.

The coupe, which was first revealed in concept form at last autumn's Frankfurt motor show, is due to go on sale in the UK in November.

Renault has released few details of the four-Seat Laguna coupe. However, it has confirmed two new V6 engines for the car: a 235PS diesel and a 240PS 3.5-litre petrol. With the petrol engine installed, the Laguna coupe has a 0-62mph time of less than seven seconds, according to Renault. Both engines are twinned with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The two-door Renault uses the same clever suspension and steering found on the five-door Lagnua GT, which allows near-flat cornering for improved vehicle stability and four-wheel steering.

Higher-powered 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines from the Laguna range are also expected to be available in the coupe.

Full details of the car will be available when the car is given its official show debut in Paris in October. However, Renault has set up a website to keep potential customers informed of the Laguna coupe - www.laguna-coupe.com.

Prices are expected to start from around £21,000 when the car goes on sale.
