Renault reveals new small 4x4 branded Koleos

Date: 11 February 2008

Renault has revealed the production version of its new small 4x4 that's set to rival the Toyota Rav4 and upcoming Ford Kuga.

The Koleos, Renault's first off-roader, will be given its first public viewing at the Geneva motor show at the start of March.

The car has been styled by Renault but developed by sister company Nissan and is built in Korea by Samsung.

The new Renault 4x4 shares some components with the Nissan X-trail including the all-wheel drive system and rear suspension.

The Koleos, which takes its name from the 4x4 concept shown at the Paris show in 2006, features a split-folding rear tailgate, split-folding rear seats and has a boot space ranging from 450-1380 litres.

As with Nissan's X-trail, Renault will offer the Koleos in two- and four-wheel drive with a choice of two 2.0 diesels (at 150PS and 175PS) and one 170PS 2.5-litre petrol engine.

Renault will reveal pricing and technical information nearer the Koleos's UK on sales date of late May.
