Renault unconcerned at Laguna's slow start

Date: 15 May 2008

Renault will continue to let its third-generation Laguna "find its own level" in the business car market despite its fleet sales being eclipsed by most rivals during the first quarter of 2008.

While the Laguna, on 1385 fleet units, finished the first quarter of the year just 61 ahead of its Peugeot 407 rival, fleet boss Keith Hawes was pragmatic.

"Laguna has not so far been a runaway success," he said. "The sector has been dying on its feet. Vauxhall sells run-out Vectras as cheap as chips. If you want to take the pain then fine, but we are not chasing the market."
