Seat Alhambra Ecomotive sneaks under 160g/km

Seat's Alhambra MPV, the brand's latest vehicle to be given the low CO2 Ecomotive tag, has gone on sale.
The Alhambra Ecomotive uses the same 140PS 2.0-litre TDI engine as the standard car, but it squeezes out an extra 4.3mpg to manage 47.1, and cuts CO2 by 16g/km to 159.
Lowering the suspension and adding an aerodynamic body kit helps reduce wind resistance, while new tyres help reduce road rolling-resistance.
This lowered ride height and reduced drag also helps to improve performance. Should the Alhambra be driven in a non-economical manner it will now get to 62mph in 11.9secs, compared to the base model's 12.2secs.
The Alhambra Ecomotive costs £19,145 and is on sale now.
It is expected to follow the rest of the Alhambra line, with 60% of sales going to fleet.
The Alhambra joins the VW Sharan as the only seven-seaters available with emissions below 160g/km, meaning that in terms of capital allowances they qualify for a 20% WDA (Writing Down Allowance).
