The start point for the best source of fleet information

Smaller cars could save up to £3bn

Date: 08 April 2008

According to the Energy Saving Trust, the UK could save £3 billion a year by switching to vehicles emitting under 120g/km CO2.

Nigel Underdown, head of transport advice at the EST, pointed out that "there will be tax breaks for driving cars that produce 120g/km of CO2 or fewer and if someone driving an average company car opts for a car in this category, they could see their tax burden cut in half".

Underdown continued: "Implementing a green fleet policy could save an organisation with 50 cars up to £45,000 every year."

The research also found that 51% of companies that provide cars do not have an environmental or Corporate Social Responsibility policy, and only 7% offer a financial reward for choosing a lower-emitting vehicle.
