Ssangyong launches commercial vehicle range

Date: 24 June 2008

Ssangyong has launched a pair of new light commercial vehicles.

The Korean brand has van versions of both its Kyron and Rexton 4x4 passenger models available. The £13,995 (excl. VAT) Kyron C-S is powered by a 141PS 2.0-litre diesel engine and 530kg payload, while the £15,995 Rexton C-S gets a 2.5-litre diesel and 740kg payload. Anti-skid control plus off-road hill-decent control are standard on both models.

The vehicles are part of Ssangyong's attempt to establish itself in the UK under new boss Paul Williams, formerly of Kia, Mitsubishi and Diahatsu. The firm, which has the Rodius MPV as well as passenger and LCV versions of its two 4x4s is looking at targeted marketing, rather than the general approach taken by the previous regime.

"99% of people don't need to know about us, but the 1% that do will," Williams told BusinessCar. "We're having discussions with Cap and Glass's, and behind the scenes we're working hard to get things sorted out."
