Vauxhall Astra Ecoflex revealed

Date: 28 August 2008

Vauxhall has revealed a 119g/km version of the Astra powered by a 110PS version of its 1.7-litre diesel engine.

The Astra Ecoflex joins a revised version of the Corsa Ecoflex which will now emit just 109g/km.

The Corsa Ecoflex, powered by a 75PS 1.3-litre diesel engine, is capable of 68.9mpg. While the Astra Ecoflex comes in at 62.8mpg.

Vauxhall will make the Astra Ecoflex available in five-door, three-door and estate models.

Improvements to the Astra were achieved using low rolling-resistance tyres and improved aerodynamics thanks to a lower suspension setting and an under-engine panel.

UK pricing has yet to be confirmed and the cars are expected to go on sale at the start of next year.
