Vauxhall Insignia pictures: Vectra replacement revealed

Date: 18 April 2008

These are the first official pictures of the Vauxhall Insignia saloon, the replacement for the Vectra.

The Vauxhall Insignia will get its first public viewing at the London motor show in July and will go on sale in November in saloon and hatchback forms, with the estate following shortly after.

The engine line-up will include two 2.0-litre diesels with 130PS and 160PS power outputs, plus three petrol engines with outputs of 140-260PS. The petrol line-up is expected to range from a 1.8 four-cylinder to a 2.8 V6.

The 130PS diesel is expected to power an Ecoflex (Vauxhall's green brand rival to VW's Bluemotion) version of the Insignia.

Vauxhall will also offer four-wheel drive on the Insignia, although the majority of cars sold will be front-wheel drive.

The newly restyled 'Griffin' badge is featured for the first time on a Vauxhall car and sees the start of the demise of V-grille on the Vauxhall range.

The boot loses its predecessor's right-angled lines while access to the boot appears to be narrow, with th erear light cluster more intruding than before. Despite this, Vauxhall has said boot space will be larger.
