The start point for the best source of fleet information

VW Bluemotion sales to hit 7000 in 2008

Date: 29 April 2008

More than 7000 Bluemotion models will find homes this year as VW continues to experience strong demand for its new low-CO2 models.

Volkswagen is having to stagger the volumes available to large fleet orders thanks to the massive corporate interest, in particular from local councils and daily rental firms.

The Golf will be the most popular model, with fleet grabbing more than 1400 of the 2380 allocation heading for the UK. More than three-quarters of this year's 1200 Passat Bluemotions will go into the corporate sector.

The Bluemotion models achieve big CO2 reductions thanks to a "series of very small changes designed to put less strain on the engine and therefore emit less CO2", said a spokesman.

By the end of 2008 there will be nine Bluemotion models: Polo, Golf, Golf Plus, Jetta, Golf estate, Touran, Passat saloon, Passat estate and Sharan.
