VW reveals diesel Scirocco

Date: 06 October 2008

VW Scirocco

Volkswagen has introduced a fleet-friendly diesel version of the Scirocco, together with a new entry-level model powered by a 160PS 1.4-litre petrol.

Prices for the diesel start from £19,515 and sits in the 18% company car tax band while the 1.4 TSI starts at £18,790 and also attracts an 18% BIK banding.

To help those user-choosers work out which would be best, the 1.4 has a 0-62mph time of 8.0 seconds and a combined fuel figure of 42.8mpg, while the 140PS diesel comes in at 0-62mph in 9.3 seconds with a fuel figure of 55.4mpg.

Alongside the new engines is a new standard trim level including ESP anti-skid control, aircon, CD autochanger, trip computer, 17-inch alloys and six airbags.

The original 200PS 2.0-litre petrol engine is only available in the higher GT spec.
