VW reveals two new Passat Bluemotions

Date: 03 October 2008

VW Passat Bluemotion 2

Volkswagen kept Bluemotion fans on their toes at the Paris motor show by revealing two new versions of the Passat Bluemotion.

Both versions use what VW calls second generation Bluemotion technology.

Initially VW will bring in a Passat powered by a 110PS 2.0-litre TDI engine that comes in at 128g/km for the saloon (129g/km for the estate). This car will arrive before the end of this year. It also uses stop-start technology, lowered suspension for better aerodynamics plus a smooth underbody tray that also improves airflow over the car. The official fuel consumption comes in at 57.6mpg.

The second of the two new Passat Bluemotions (pictured) is expected to arrive at the end of next year. It is powered by a new 1.6-litre TDI engine producing 105PS and returning 109g/km, with fuel consumption greater than 70mpg.
