A big Plus for Golf as new model gets below 121g/km

Date: 13 August 2009

The new Bluemotion version of the Golf Plus will come in at 114g/km when sales start in October, coming down from the previous model's 127g/km.

Priced at £325 more than the standard Golf Plus, the Bluemotion model is powered by a 105PS 1.6-litre diesel engine and returns a claimed combined economy figure of 65.7mpg, compared to the old model's 58.9mpg from its 105PS 1.9-litre engine.

Coming in two trim levels, the Bluemotion S is priced at £17,570 and the Bluemotion SE at £18,920, with increased spec on the latter model including front and rear parking sensors, cruise control and alloy wheels.

Features to help cut emissions include stop-start, low rolling resistance tyres and revised gear ratios in the top three gears of the five-speed gearbox.
