Alphabet calls for fleets to adopt driver councils

Date: 02 July 2009

BMW-owned leasing firm Alphabet is suggesting fleet managers form panels made up of a small number of drivers to learn from, and convey new ideas to, staff.

The idea is part of a wider briefing document published by the lease firm aimed at reducing costs in the long term by looking at vehicle requirements.

"Councils help fleet managers because they can get some good opinions on what drivers want. It also helps with buy-in of cost control and council members become advocates of a policy," said Paul Hollick, Alphabet general manager for sales development.

He added an example: "It can be particularly useful when swapping from a multi-badge deal to a dual badge deal."
