Audi A4 Allroad pictures and prices revealed

Date: 16 February 2009

Audi is giving the rugged Allroad version of its A4 its global unveiling at the Geneva motor show.

The four-wheel drive A4 Allroad is based on the estate version of the German brand's upper medium car and joins the A6 Allroad model that's already part of Audi's range. It has been widened by 20mm, raised by 37mm and given more rugged styling.

The grille, wheel-arches and bumpers have all been tweaked, and additional under-floor protection completes the changes.

Audi begins taking orders for the new model this week, but the first cars will make their way to customers in May.

The A4 Allroad will be available with three engines from the standard A4: 170PS 2.0-litre and 240PS 3.0-litre diesels plus a 211PS 2.0-litre petrol.

The roughened up A4 has technology included that is said to detect off-road surfaces, which adjusts the ESP anti-skid control to allow more wheel-spin when required.

Prices start from £29,285.
