Audi introduces new entry-level drop-top TT

Date: 24 March 2009

Audi is to offer a 1.8-litre version of its TT Roadster that will take up the position as the cheapest version of the popular convertible.

The new entry-level model will be available for £23,910, undercutting the previous cheapest price tag - the 2.0-litre TFSI version's £27,355.

Despite the smaller engine size, the new 1.8-litre version still offers 160PS and a 0-62mph time of 7.4secs.

Crucially, it is also the first petrol TT to make it under the new 160g/km capital allowances threshold with emissions of 159g/km.

The new TT will only be available in standard trim, but will still offer the electrically powered roof, climate control and 17-inch alloy wheels.

A coupe version should follow late this year.
