August another record month for auction prices

Last month was yet another record breaker in the auction halls as average prices hit £6223, £195 up on July's figures, which was the first time valueshad passed the average £6000 mark, according to auction giant BCA.
Average used car prices have risen every month since last November, and theyear-on-year price is now £1458 up on August 2008, a 30.6% rise.
"The bounce-back by used cars from the economic downturn last year has beenexceptional," said a BCA spokesman. "Although there is a relative shortageof cars, there is still plenty of demand and as a result prices have rallied."
The company said almost every car going through auctions at the moment is being sold, regardless of age and mileage.
