BMW announces new MD

Tim Abbott

Tim Abbott has been named as the new managing director of BMW UK.

Abbott moves to the position from his job as sales director for the German brand in the UK and replaces Klaus Kibsgaard.

Kibsgaard moves to a senior management position within BMW's sales and marketing division.

Abbott first joined BMW in 1986 and has since worked for Audi and the dealer group Sytner. He took the role of sales director in 2006, and cites his interests as motor sport and golf.

He takes up his new role on 1 February.
