BVRLA reassures over broker market

Date: 02 November 2009

Leasing association the BVRLA has moved to reassure fleets that the broker market was not about to disappear, following a few high-profile reductions in this market by finance providers.

Earlier this year Lex Autolease cut back a portion of its broker business and more-recently recently Lombard Vehicle Finance closed its broker operation.

However, members of the BVRLA's leasing broker committee said they remained committed to the market.

"Introducer-based business is a key part of our product mix," said Jo Elms, brand director at Leaseplan's Network small business division. "We intend to significantly grow our volumes in this area in 2010, but we will use fewer brokers and will deliver higher levels of customer service."

This view was backed by Mike Curtis, head of SME divisions at Arval, who added: "We are keen to support brokers who offer a relationship-based approach with their customers and provide efficient back-office processing and strong risk management."
