Drug-driving clampdown

Date: 21 August 2009

Lord Adonis

Following the Government's latest campaign to cut the level of drug-driving on UK roads, secretary of state for transport Lord Adonis said he is considering changing the law so that police could use roadside drug detection devices.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4, Adonis said other European countries had used the devices to tackle the issue of drug-driving, however as the law stood, these devices can not be used in the UK.
