First pictures: Audi releases teaser of A5 Sportback

Date: 17 June 2009

Audi has revealed a teaser picture and a sketch of its forthcoming A5 Sportback model, due for launch in the UK this October.

The model will join the coupe and cabriolet models to form a three-car A5 line-up, with Audi claiming the Sportback is "as emotional and elegant as a coupe, as comfortable as a sedan, and as practical as an Avant."

Though UK pricing is yet to be announced, the brand has confirmed that the entry 2.0 TDI diesel version will cost ?36,050 in Europe, which currently translates as £30,439, though an Audi UK spokesman said he didn't yet know where the Sportback will be priced in relation to its A5 siblings. But the expectation is that it will come in below the coupe and cabriolet.

Audi has also confirmed a lower-priced version will join the range in 2010, most likely a 1.8 TFSI petrol model, which will be the cheapest model in the A5 line-up across all three body styles.
