Fleets to maintain spending in recession

Date: 13 October 2009

The majority of fleet managers think the UK will begin to pull out of the recession next year, specifically in the second half of 2010, according to a new report from BusinessCar and partner company ICD Research.

Titled 'UK Vehicle Rental, Leasing and Fleet Management Industry Outlook to 2010', the report looks at businesses reaction to the economic crisis and how their buying habits will vary over the coming months and years.

The report, which surveyed 300 business vehicle buyers, shows 44% of UK companies expect to maintain spending levels on their fleets over the next 12 months, yet a further 38% expect to reduce spending.

The report includes trends on where the spend will occur, including the split between vehicle leasing and outright purchase as well as which vehicle sectors are set to grow and which will shrink in the next 12-24 months.
