The start point for the best source of fleet information

FRANKFURT SHOW: Hyundai targets business car market with new ix35

Date: 09 September 2009

Hyundai is predicting its small off-roader - the ix35 - will be one of its most important fleet models yet.

A Hyundai spokesman said the i30-based Ford Kuga rival "will appeal to user choosers - Golf or Focus buyers who want something a bit more. We want to offer Kuga style and equipment for a little more money than the Nissan Qashqai."

The ix35 will appear for the first time at the Frankfurt motor show this month. It launches in spring next year and will arrive with an all new 2.0-litre diesel.

No emissions figures are available for the new engine yet, but Hyundai has said it will be "a lot below 160g/km".

Two more engines will follow once the ix35 has been launched - a 1.6-litre petrol followed by a 1.7-litre diesel.

It is anticipated that fleet will take up to 25% of ix35 sales, which are expected to be around 2500 in total.
