Europe-wide fleet card firm FleetCor has acquired the complete Retail Decisions fuel card operation from its previous owner, private equity firm Palamon Capital Partners.
ReD's 15,000 business customers and its UK bunkering network will transfer over to the new ownership, which already operates in the UK under the branding of The Fuelcard Company and also has interests in nine other European countries.
In the short-term the two brands will operate independently, but the company will be "assessing the situation for branding in the long-term," according to a spokeswoman. FleetCor also owns the Keyfuels, which it describes as the UK's largest fuel bunkering network of its kind.
The acquisition will provide "significant benefits to our existing and new customers and partners via a larger acceptance network," according to FleetCor Europe boss Andrew Blayze.
