GENEVA SHOW: Renault hits Geneva for six

Date: 03 March 2009

Renault has unveiled no less than six new vehicles at the Geneva motor show, including the new Scenic and Grand Scenic.

The French brand has also displayed the estate version of the new Megane, performance Renaultsport versions of the Clio and Megane, and the 2009 facelift for the Clio.

The Grand Scenic (above), which is available with seven seats, is expected to go on sale this May, closely followed by the smaller five-seat Scenic in June. The Grand Scenic claims a segment best 92 litres of cabin stowage space, while both cars have boosted their boot capacity by 10%.

The Megane has added to its versatility with the revealing of an estate version, following from the hatchback that appeared last November. The estate, or Sport Tourer, offers a boot of 524 litres seats up, and 1595 litres with them down. Renault also claims it has the lowest boot sill height in its class at 561mm. It retains this boot size despite a rounded rear that is in taking with the smooth styling of the hatchback.

Geneva has also given the facelifted Clio its public debut, with the tweaked estate of the supermini also on show.

Renault has also whipped the covers off the 200PS Clio Renaultsport 200 and the 250PS Megane Renaultsport 250.
