Honda CRZ edges close to production

Date: 02 October 2009

Honda is displaying the latest concept version of its sporty CRZ hybrid at the Tokyo motor show this month.

The concept is displayed with a six-speed manual gearbox that is likely to make it to the final production version. The CRZ is due to go on sale by the middle of 2010.

Honda has confirmed this is not a pre-production model, and there is due to be one more version to appear before nest year's launch.

Honda is also showing off a six-seat MPV concept at Tokyo. The Skydeck concept is a hybrid-powered vehicle with the engine housed under the central tunnel, rather than under the back seats.

Honda has said the Skydeck is just a design study at the moment, but it could form the basis of the replacement for the six-seater FRV, which is coming to the end of its life.
