Hoon quits as transport secretary

Date: 05 June 2009

Geoff Hoon

Secretary of State for Transport Geoff Hoon has quit his post and resigned from the cabinet.

There's no official word yet on who will replace him, with prime minister Gordon Brown's much-talked about cabinet reshuffle yet to focus on the transport position.

Chancellor Alistair Darling and business minister Lord Mandleson are among those retaining their posts.
