Medium-term leasing to hit daily rental

Date: 19 November 2009

The rise of three- to 12-month leasing could impact upon daily rental for prestige models, according to leasing firm Equalease, which claims it can "significantly undercut" daily rental rates for cars such as the BMW 3-series or Mercedes C-class.

"Daily rental has one significant advantage over medium-term leasing, and that is the ability to hand the car back at any moment," said Equalease managing director Paul Ashton. "However, if you know that you are going to need a car for three months or longer, then medium term leasing comes into its own and, in this part of the market we are winning business from daily rental companies."
