Nearly a third of employees break law while driving for work

Date: 03 December 2009

Research by Enterprise Rent-A-Car has found that 31% of employees have committed an offence while driving for work in the past six months.

Over half were for speeding, while another 24% were drink- or drug-driving related. Another 10% was due to inappropriate insurance and 16% for a failure to pay a fixed penalty notice.

"The findings show that a significant number of small businesses are facing a problem when it comes to managing their drivers," said Enterprise director of business rental Ron Ingram. "A lot of drivers use their cars for work without the appropriate business insurance."
