New C-charge hits fleet

Date: 15 October 2009

London mayor Boris Johnson is to scrap the £1 fleet discount as part of a overhaul of the congestion charge coming before the end of next year, including the promised removal of the western extension zone.

The charge for entering the zone will rise to £10 a day, though any vehicle signed up to the new automated payment system will pay £9.?The system will log the number of times a vehicle enters the zone per week and debit the customer's account.

"Once introduced, drivers registering for CC?Auto Pay can rest assured they'll never recieve a penalty charge again," said Johnson.
