New Scottish safety organisation

Date: 22 September 2009

A new organisation aimed at tackling at-work road deaths in Scotland has launched.

The Scottish Occupational Road Safety Alliance is aimed at helping smaller firms cut employee deaths on the road, and was initiated by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.

Companies can join ScORSA for free and will receive up to 10 driver assessments through RoSPA's Driver Profiler software risk assessment tool, as well as access to practical policy help from road safety experts.

"Giving attention to managing occupational road risk makes sense for business reasons such as enhanced company reputation and cost savings from fewer accidents," said head of RoSPA Scotland Dr Karen McDonnell. "There are also clear moral and legal justifications."
