New Volvo S60 revealed

Date: 10 November 2009

Volvo has taken the wraps of the all-new S60, aimed at the heartland of the business car market.

The new S60 will, after a year-long gap, give Volvo a rival to the VW Passat and BMW 3-series.

The all-new Volvo S60 will be officially unveiled at the Geneva motor show in March 2010 with the car going on sale in mid-2010.

Volvo will use the new S60 to launch its latest safety system. Pedestrian Detection is a feature that can detect pedestrians in front of the car and brake automatically if the driver does not react in time. Pedestrian Detection is similar in principle to City Safety which at low speeds stops the car if it detects a likely impact with the car in front.

"Customers in this segment want emotional appeal, sporty design and dynamic driving properties. The S60 has it all. We are convinced that it will be one of the strongest contenders around," said Volvo boss Stephen Odell.
