Peugeot plans petrol and diesel 3008 hybrids

Date: 17 April 2009

Peugeot 3008

Peugeot's new 3008 will eventually be available in both petrol and diesel hybrid forms.

The Nissan Qashqai-rivalling mini-MPV will also add stop-start in an attempt to drop emissions.

The first hybrid will be the diesel, expected in early 2011. Peugeot will use its 2.0-litre 165PS diesel, with the electric motor driving the rear wheels. The hybrid will be the first and only four-wheel drive 3008, with a predicted 109g/km and 68.9mpg. A petrol hybrid will follow.

Stop-start technology will also arrive in the first half of 2011, coupled with the 110PS 1.6-litre diesel.
