Peugeot reveals Audi TT rival

Date: 18 August 2009

Peugeot has revealed the stunning coupe that will be launched next year as the French rival to Audi's TT.

Coming next spring with a choice of one diesel and two petrol engines, the RCZ is the first Peugeot to be given a name rather than the French firm's numbered monikers with either one or two zeros in the middle.

The front-wheel drive car is a four-seater with two "occasional use" seats in the rear. Peugeot claims there is more headroom than rival models because of the car's domed-roof styling, and the 384-litre boot compares favourable with the Audi TT's 290 litre luggage compartment.

Of the three engines, the 2.0-litre 163PS diesel will be the most tax-efficient at 139g/km and 52.3 mpg, while the lower-powered petrol engine gets under the 161g/km capital allowance boundary at 159g/km and 40.9mg, while the 200PS turbocharged 1.6 petrol is 165g/km and 39.8mpg.
