Peugeot reveals its first sub-100g/km car

Peugeot will gain its first sub-100g/km car later this year with an eco-version of the 207.
The 99g/km 207 will be powered by a tweaked version of the firm's 90PS 1.6-litre diesel engine, but it's aerodynamic aids that make the majority of the difference to the car's efficiency, the most obvious of which is the spoiler that works on the sides as well as the top of the rear hatch.
The 99g/km 207 will become Peugeot's lowest CO2 car when it goes on sale in the UK min-2009.
Joining the 207 in the middle of the year will be a low-CO2 version of the 407.
Again the car will be powered by the firm's 1.6-litre HDI engine, this time producing 110PS and giving a CO2 figure of 129g/km, a reduction of 11g/km over the current car.
Alongside the green versions of current cars at the Geneva motor show was a hybrid version of the 3008, which is set to go on sale in 2011, 18 months after the conventionally powered 3008. The four-wheel drive petrol-electric hybrid 3008 will have a CO2 output of just 109g/km.
Capping the green theme was an announcement by the French firm that 2011 will also see a "very large" expansion of stop-start technology to a wide range of Peugeots.
