Porsche hits the emissions-cutting trail

Porsche's appeal to the fleet sector is set to grow next year with the launch of its first hybrid model.
The large off-roader Cayenne will be the first beneficiary of the full hybrid technology, which will allow the car to run on electric motor only at low speed. Emissions figures are yet to be confirmed, but the car is expected to be claiming average fuel economy of just over 31mpg.
However, the big step forward in emissions terms will be the hybrid version of Porsche's new saloon, the Panamera, which is expected to be the first Porsche to come in below 200g/km of CO2.
The new developments will add to emissions-reducing technology such as stop-start, which debuted in the new Panamera, the first car in the UK to offer such a system with an automatic gearbox.
The hybrid will be the second development to the Panamera range, with a 300PS 3.0-litre engine coming next year.
Porsche predicts more than half of Panameras will be bought with company money.
