Renault to service rival vans with new LCV plan

Date: 18 November 2009

Renault is looking to convince fleets to service all their light commercial vehicles at its new van specialist Pro+ centres, regardless of the make and model of vehicles they operate.

Pro+ was officially launched this month at Renault's Acton dealership in west London, and will spread to 22 sites by next summer.

Designed as a "one-stop-shop" for business van needs, the Pro+ sites will pledge to start diagnosing van problems within an hour of vehicles arriving on site without an appointment, and offer extended servicing hours, expert sales staff on site with expertise of business finance needs, a larger demonstration range and arrangement of a suitable courtesy vehicle. Each site will also have an eight-tonne lift enabling servicing of vehicles larger than the previous 3.5t. That's in preparation for the new Master coming next year with a 4.5t maximum gross vehicle weight.

"The 8t capacity means we can service every make and product on the market," said Paul Guiver, who is responsible for the UK launch of Pro+. "The challenge is to win aftersales business from every make and model. Companies that run fleets of vehicles are looking for solutions for their business and we'll offer a simple one-stop for servicing.

"We've extended servicing times by offering out-of-hours appointments. For business customers the vehicle is a tool so it's important that any down-time is minimised."
