The start point for the best source of fleet information

Tyred of battery faults

Date: 17 November 2009

The RAC is calling on fleets to try and educate their drivers about the increased risks of flat batteries or punctures causing unnecessary downtime for a vehicle as winter closes in.

The rescue firm said punctures would be its top call-out cause over the winter, while an increase of 20% in the number of flat batteries caused by interior or exterior lights being left on is also predicted.

"During the winter months it is even more important that company car drivers maintain vehicles properly to keep safe, help their vehicles last longer and reduce downtime," said RAC information manager Frank Flynn. "This can be done by making a few simple checks on a regular basis."
