Used LCV values rise again

Date: 23 March 2009

Used values for LCVs have risen for the second month in a row, climbing back above £3000 for the first time since October 2008, although still some way behind the peak of £3868 reached in January of the same year.

February's values were up by 6.6%, or nearly £200, on January's, taking the average selling price to £3117 according to auction firm BCA's monthly report.

Duncan Ward, BCA's UK business development manager - commercial vehicles, claimed not to be surprised by the resurgence in values, saying: "The fact is that LCV values had reached a very low base by the end of last year and a recovery in average price was somewhat overdue."

The rise in values is being greatly boosted by success for vans coming from the lease and fleet sector, where average values rose from £3012 to £3359.
