Vauxhall confirms Astra engine line-up

Date: 26 August 2009

Vauxhall is to launch its new fleet favourite, the Astra, with eight engines, and a low-CO2 Ecoflex version to follow next year.

There will be four petrol and four diesel engines to choose from for the lower medium Astra, which is due in the UK by the end of 2009 following a world debut at the Frankfurt motor show next month. Two 1.4-litre and two 1.6-litre petrols, and a 1.3-, a 1.7- and two 2.0-litre diesels will all be on offer.

None of the diesels will emit more than 129g/km CO2, while it is claimed the Ecoflex Astra will offer emissions of 109g/km.

Meanwhile, Vauxhall will also be giving the Insignia Ecoflex Sports Tourer its global debut at the Frankfurt show. The estate version offers a CO2 emissions rating of 139g/km from its 160PS 2.0-litre diesel engine.
