Villiers: wants a "more efficient" tax system

Theresa Villiers has retained her position as shadow secretary for transport after surviving the reshuffle that sees Ken Clarke return to the Conservatives' front bench.

Clarke takes up the role of shadow business secretary, a position previously held by Alan Duncan, who now becomes the shadow Commons leader.

The reshuffle also sees Eric Pickles become the Conservative party chairman, Chris Grayling take the shadow home secretary role, Theresa May as shadow work and pensions secretary and Dominic Grieve as shadow justice secretary.

Nick Herbert goes to the shadow environment brief, while Caroline Spelman completes the changes, taking Pickles' old post of shadow communities secretary.
