Volvo C30 dips unders 100g/km

Date: 25 September 2009

Volvo's facelifted C30 lower medium hatchback will be available at 99g/km in its low-CO2 Driv-e 1.6-litre diesel form from next month.

Modifications to the car have taken it from 104g/km and 72.4mpg to 99g/km and an average 74.3mpg, which gives the car a theoretical 857 miles per tank of fuel. The CO2 fall means the C30 is now exempt from road tax, although there's no fall in BIK contributions. Pricing will be announced shortly, with the car on-sale in October.

There's no sign of the C30's big brother S40 saloon and V50 estate Driv-e models dropping below 100g/km. They stay at the 104g/km figure they previously shared with the C30.
