VW vans bags biggest ever deal

Date: 29 April 2009

Volkswagen has won its biggest-ever commercial vehicle deal to supply Caddy vans to British Gas.

The gas company will take 5300 Caddy vans over the next two years, adding to the 1000 it already runs on its fleet.

The vans will be supplied with bespoke racking and 70mph speed limiters.

It is expected that the vans will be kept on the British Gas fleet for four years, covering an average of 12,000 miles a year.

Colin Marriott, general manager fleet at British Gas, said: "We are extremely pleased with the 1000 Caddy vans we've had since 2007, and our decision to order more Volkswagens is based on our analysis of whole-life costs, reliability and professional support available from the manufacturer."
