The start point for the best source of fleet information

Arval wins safe fleet management award

Date: 16 July 2010

Arval has won an award for safe fleet management from Esafety Aware. The organisation said Arval had "a clear policy on vehicle choice, with driver training and education, comprehensive information and regular vehicle checks". It also makes reversing sensors, ABS and ESC compulsory.

Tracey Scarr, Arval's fleet and road safety manager, said: "We are delighted to be the first fleet management company to win an eSafety prize. Developments in vehicle technology significantly help to reduce deaths on our roads and we support eSafety in its campaign to increase deployment of these safety-related technologies.

"Around 40% of fatal road accidents are as a result of skidding and studies show that ESC can dramatically reduce this. Obviously there is no substitute for careful driving but this is a valuable safety feature that will help reduce the road risk of our drivers."

Mercedes-Benz was awarded a prize for marketing and sales for its commitment to developing safer cars. They were credited with "astute advertising campaigns about the safety message and bringing critical information to the consumer".

German company ADAC took the accolade for driver training. The firm made ESC a standard component of its driver safety training in 1998.
