Budget must leave room for clever decisions: Enterprise

Date: 21 June 2010

Enterprise's Rob Ingam

Enterprise Rent-A-Car has expressed concerns that Tuesday's Budget, the first by the new Conservative-LibDem coalition, will contain savage cuts that remove manager's ability to make longer-term money-saving decisions.

"We hope it won't be too specific, it needs to encourage clever decisions to be made," Enterprise director of business rental Rob Ingram told BusinessCar. "The danger in being too restrictive is that it doesn't encourage clever thinking."

Ingram said Enterprise believes hundreds of thousands of pounds could be saved in mileage reimbursement in the public sector alone, but it needs work and buy-in from senior managers. "Our hope is to make sure the Budget encourages different departments to work together to encourage clever savings," he said.
